Arthur J. Goldberg Memorial Prize in Constitutional Law

This endowed prize was established by Ann Amer Brennan, Esquire, of the class 0f 1982, as a permanent memorial to the Honorable Arthur J. Goldberg, Associate Justice of The Supreme Court of the United States, Secretary of Labor, and United States Representative to the United Nations.  Justice Goldberg’s willingness to come to The University of Akron School of Law and teach, as the Inaugural Holder of both the David L. Brennan Chair of Law and the John F. Seiberling Chair in Constitutional Law, is hereby acknowledged through the establishment of this memorial tribute.

In recognition of Justice Goldberg’s continued interest in women’s rights and support for the intellectual development of women lawyers, this prize is awarded annually to a graduating senior woman (December and May combined), as determined by the Dean or his/her designee, with consideration given to the following criteria:

  1. Active interest in Constitutional Law as evidenced by course selection and extracurricular activities;
  2. Excellence in Constitutional Law as evidenced by class performance, extracurricular activities, or scholarly writing; and
  3. Leadership in the School of Law, the community, or the legal profession.

Female graduates interested in being considered for this prize should submit a resume and personal statement to Mrs. Misty D. Franklin, Dean’s Office, ON OR BEFORE Friday, April 17, 2015.  The prize will be awarded in May 2015.

Michigan Workers Comp Lawyers are pleased to offer our first annual scholarship for law school students who are actively pursuing a law degree. Workers’ compensation is an important benefit for employees injured on the job, yet each state’s laws vary significantly on levels of coverage. Our attorneys continually champion to protect employee rights and encourage law students to learn more about the field of workers’ compensation law. Our scholarship is open to all 1L, 2L and 3L law students.

Applicants must submit an essay outlining your point of view on how your home state’s current laws impact employees’ legal rights regarding workplace injuries. Applications are available at the website below.

Lake County Bar Foundation Scholarship

The Lake County Bar Foundation of the Lake County Bar Association is pleased to announce it will be awarding up to three (3) One Thousand Dollar ($1,000.00) Scholarships at their annual Law Day Celebration in May 2018.   Law students who are legal residents of Lake County, Ohio are eligible and are invited to apply.
