Effects on International Law: Middle East Panel Discussion and a Closer Look at Israel & Palestine

Please join us on March 11, 2015 from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. in L-151 at the University of Akron School of Law for our event: Effects on International Law: Middle East Panel Discussion and a Closer Look at Israel & Palestine.

Our three distinguished guests will be participating in a panel discussion on current Middle East international law issues as well as a Q&A session.

Event speakers include Dean Matthew Wilson, an international law expert; Raeed Tayeh, a published Akron Law grad who has appeared on various TV programs; and Doron Kalir, a professor at Cleveland State University from Tel Aviv, Israel.

Food and beverages will be provided!

Any student interested in serving on SBA as a class representative or Executive Board member must be nominated by 2 students from their class. Board positions include, President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Upon nomination, each student must accept or deny the nomination. Nominations will run from Monday, March 9 until Thursday, March 12 at 7:00 p.m. Students may nominate each other at the following link:

The survey will direct you to add up to 7 names for nominations–3 class reps and each of the board positions. Please include which position you are nominating your classmate for and CURRENT year, including part-time or full- time.

Once nominations are tallied, elections will be held. A student may be nominated for both a class representative position and an executive board position, but may only serve in one position.

Please make sure to nominate your classmates that will take part in providing a successful and enjoyable year of events for students next year!

Students can stop by and pick up an MPRE study book at the Barbri table in the cafeteria on Wednesday, March 11 between 9:30 AM and 6:30 PM. Also, students who sign up for a brief demo of Barbri’s new online student plan will receive a Starbucks gift card! Email joe.metzner@barbri.com to set up a time!

Public Interest Auction – Saturday, March 7th

There is still time to reserve a spot at this year’s Public Interest Auction! The event will feature both a live and silent auction including over 60 items including Cavs and Indians tickets, golf outings, review sessions with professors, and delicious home-cooked meals made by your professors!

Every penny of the Auction proceeds is used to fund the Public Interest Stipend which benefits students who serve in non-profit and governmental positions during the summer. Each student who wishes to receive distributions from the fund MUST attend the Auction (though don’t worry, you don’t need to win anything to qualify!)

The Auction is being held on the 5th Floor of the InfoCision Stadium Press Tower THIS SATURDAY (March 7) at 6pm. Lights hors d’oeurves, desserts, and a cash bar will be provided. Pre-sale tickets are available through Friday in the student lounge and will be available at the door on the day of the event. Cash, credit, and check are accepted.
