BLSA Annual Banquet

Come celebrate the banner year of the National Black Law Student Association’s Small Chapter of the year: Akron BLSA! 

Akron BLSA invites you to join us for Akron BLSA’s Annual Banquet, which will be held April 13, 2013, at 6:30PM at the Quaker Square Inn. We are honored to have Judge Carla Moore, Presiding Judge of the Ohio Ninth District Court of Appeals, deliver our keynote address.  Please join us for an evening of music, hors d’ouevres, a three-course meal, and the company of some of the best legal minds in Northeast Ohio. 

This event marks the culmination of an exceptional year for Akron BLSA. Not only did the chapter win the Midwest BLSA Small Chapter of the Year, but we have been named the National Small Chapter of the Year as well! In addition, the Akron BLSA Moot Court Team won second-runners up in the Midwest and made a national appearance! 

We are very excited to celebrate our membership and supporters with our pinnacle event for the 2012-2013 academic year. Tickets for Professionals are $50, $35 for Students.  Tickets will go on sale April 1st, 2013.

WHEN:  Saturday, April 6th., 7 pm to 12 am

WHERE: Akron City Center Hotel (formerly the Ramada)- 20 West Mill Street

TICKET: $30/person
Accept cash, credit card, or cheque
Tickets will ONLY BE AVAILABLE  until April 3rd, in the student lounge
**TICKETS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR**

  • Cocktail hour with live music (hors d’oeuvres) at 7 pm
  • Dinner at 8 pm, followed by dancing
  • This price includes hors d’oeuvres, full dinner, live music, Neil’s on Wheels DJ, dancing, favors, superlatives, and use of photo booth
  • Cash ONLY bar – To improve the experience at the bar, we’ve increased the number of servers and the variety and quality of liquor
  • Discount hotel rates are available until April 5th. Either a room with a King bed or two Queen beds will be $79+tax.
  • Formal attire is recommended

Socratic Karaoke – March 15, 9 pm, On Tap

SELS will be hosting its famous Socratic Karaoke on March 15! Come show off your talent, support your classmates, and enjoy a nice stress-free evening with friends!

If you have paid your dues and would like to be an officer next year, SELS will be holding elections at 8:00pm prior the event in the party room at On Tap.

The event starts at 9:00pm and will be hosted at On Tap in Montrose at 3997 Medina Road, Akron, OH 44333. (Just a ten minute drive from Highland Square!)

Barrister’s Ball tickets on sale next week

Barrister’s ball, our most anticipated event of the year, will be held on Saturday, April 6th.

Please join your colleagues, alumni, faculty, and staff for an evening of dinner and dancing.

Barrister’s ball will take place at the Akron City Center Hotel (formerly the Ramada). The evening begins at 7 pm and concludes at 12 am.

Cocktail hour with live music (hors d’oeuvres) at 7 pm

Dinner will be at 8 pm, followed by dancing

Tickets will be $30/person. We accept cash, credit cards, or checks.

The recommended attire is formal.
