Akron Law 5K
Sponsored by the Student Bar Association. All proceeds to benefit the Akron Food Bank.
WHEN: Saturday April 7th, 2012
START/FINISH: LOCK 3 Downtown Akron
COURSE: The 5K course will run through downtown Akron and along the Towpath.
Water will be provided on the course and at the finish line.
SCHEDULE: Registration begins at 8am; Race begins at 9am; Awards at 10:30am
AWARDS: Top Three Overall Finishers (male & female), Fastest Lawyer (male & female), Fastest Law Student (male & female)
FEES: $20 pre-registration fee includes a T-shirt; $25 race day registration fee.

I would like to invite you to “Excellence,” Akron BLSA’s Annual End-of-Year Banquet. This event will take place Saturday, March 31st from 6:30pm – 10pm at the Fairlawn Country Club. We are honored to have Peter Lawson Jones, Esq. former Cuyahoga County Commissioner as our keynote speaker, as we celebrate the culmination of a year of phenomenal programming, events, and professional development.
Guests will enjoy classical music by Musicali String Quartet, hot & cold hors d’oeuvres, and a three-course meal. This will be a great opportunity to network with attorneys, judges, and Akron Law faculty.
Individuals interested in purchasing tickets can pay cash, credit card, money order, or check. Please make all checks payable to “Akron BLSA.” Tickets are $35 for students. Get ready for Barrister’s Ball! LAW will be accepting dress donations, and we will have a sale of those dresses Thursday, March 22nd 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. for $20 a piece in the law school lounge. Go home and search your closets during spring break! All dresses not sold will be donated. Find your dress for Barrister’s for less this year! Please e-mail Emily Fehr at eab51@zips.uakron.edu to arrange a time for her to pick up your donation. Last-minute donations may be taken directly to the dress sale.
The Akron Public Interest Law Society (APILS) is looking for officers for the 2012-2013 year. If you are interested in running for a position, please send a short blurb about your interest in running to Alicia Coleman (alibricol@gmail.com) by Friday, March 9th. This is a great way to get involved in a reputable student organization. Even if you haven’t had a chance to be involved in APILS as much as you would have liked, we encourage you to run.
