Open House Advising: May 2016 Graduation Clearance

Assistant Dean of Law Student Affairs Ivy Banks and Manager Liz Wascak will be stationed in the law school atrium for a Graduation Advising ‘Open House’ during the following dates and times:

  • Monday, September 28th 12:00pm – 2:00pm
  • Tuesday, September 29th 4:30pm – 6:30pm

Stop by and receive answers to your graduation questions like:

  • How do I apply? – Deadline is Thursday, October 1, 2015
  • What do I still need to take?
  • What about my certificate?

Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS) audits can also be reviewed with you.

FREE Training from Ohio Attorney General: Become a CHIPP Ambassador – Monday, September 21st at 5:00pm in Room 165

All students can join Ryan Lippe from the Ohio Attorney General’s Office on Monday, September 21st for free training to become a CHIPP Ambassador!!!

Join the Ohio Attorney General’s CHIPP Initiative (Cybersecurity, Help, Information, and Protection Program) designed to provide consumers with a basic understanding about protecting their security and privacy on computers and other electronic devices.

CHIPP Ambassadors: improve their public speaking skills; put their critical thinking to the test and gain valuable community service!

Two Dates to Save – Please Attend as Needed

Wednesday, September 23, 5:30 – 6:30 pm, Room 165  – Ohio Bar Application Workshop
For all 2nd year students, full-time and part-time:  you need to submit your Application to Register as a Candidate for Admission to the Ohio Bar to the Supreme Court of Ohio by November 16.  Join the Director of the Ohio Supreme Court Bar Admissions Office to learn how to complete your application and to have your application questions answered.  *Please Note:  to prepare for this session and your application, please complete the information HERE by Monday, September 21.

Thursday, September 24, 5:30 – 6:30 pm, Room 165  – Substance Abuse Lecture
This is for all students who plan to take the Ohio Bar at any time in the future.  You may fulfill this bar requirement at any time while you are in law school.

IMPORTANT: Ohio Bar Exam Requirements for 3Ls

If you are graduating in December and/or planning to take The February 2016 Ohio Bar Examination – The Deadline for the Supreme Court of Ohio Office of Admissions to receive your Application to Take the Bar Examination is November 2, 2015.  You must have your full application submitted by this date.

A form required as part of the application packet is the Character Certificate, which must be processed by Law Student Services and signed by Assistant Dean Ivy Banks.

17th Annual Law School Closing Argument Competition – Thursday October 8, 2015

It’s that time of year again, and we are excited to announce the 17th Annual Law Student Closing Argument Competition. Attached please find a flier we would like you to immediately distribute to your 2nd and 3rd year law students who are interested in competing in a competition scheduled to take place Thursday, October 8, 2015, at the Cuyahoga County Courthouse. The event is sponsored by the Landskroner Foundation for Children, a child advocacy organization, which attempts to advance and protect the rights of children, further children’s issues and promote the good and welfare of children in need or at risk.

We are offering law students from your institution the opportunity to take part in our competition. There are monetary scholarships for the top three place finishers, $750, $500, and $200 respectively.
