Important Opportunity! Scanlon Inn of Court Seeks Students for 2014-15 Academic Term

Scanlon/Bell Inn of Court accepting applications for 2014-2015 Term.

The Charles F. Scanlon and Judge Samuel H. Bell Inn of Court is accepting applications for membership for the 2014-2015 Term. There are eight openings for law students to be Pupils of the Inn. It is an excellent opportunity for those students to expand their network of Akron-area lawyers and judges.

The Inn was founded by leading members of the Bar, including Federal District Judge Sam Bell, in collaboration with the Akron Bar Association and the University of Akron School of Law. It has maintained its vigor by enrolling new members who want to learn and share information about ethics, public issues, and advocacy through the programs offered by the Inn.

Applications will be reviewed on Monday, April 28, 2014.  If you have not submitted an application, please do so as soon as possible!

We have additional limited scholarship funds available to support students who demonstrate significant financial need. Please use this form to apply for a scholarship to cover a portion of the difference between the Bar Fellowship reimbursement and the remainder of the tuition for your bar exam preparation course. Application for these funds does not guarantee receipt thereof.  Please submit application form to Law Student Services.  Thank you.

AKRON LAW TRIAL TEAM WINS ANOTHER NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

A special congratulations to our advocates – Joseph Darwal and Justin Workman and their witnesses Elizabeth Emanuel and C. Adam Carro on their NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP WIN!

These hardworking students took down field teams from The University of Cincinnati, New York University, Duquesne University, South Texas College of Law, Stetson University and Syracuse University to bring home the National Trophy from the American Association for Justice’s Student Trial Advocacy Competition in Santa Monica, California!!

Please congratulate these student’s on their monumental win!!!

SPRING INTO AWARENESS
Spring into a new awareness about yourself and the environment with short interactive speakers presenting on topics such as leadership, environmentalism, mindful living, and self-discovery.
Some speakers are City Councilman Rich Swirsky, Board of Trustees Nick York, UA’s Director of sustainability, and many other students and faculty.

There will also be all-day live musician between speakers.
