After a two-exam break to keep us safe from COVID, the feast before the bar exam is back!

If you’re in the law school on Saturday, July 17, drop by outside Room 325 for some food and last-minute encouragement anytime between 1:00 PM & 5:00 PM.

Even if you’re a few semesters away from the bar exam (or you’ve already taken it) come grab some food. (It’s also a chance to ask anything you ever wanted to ask about the bar exam . . . )

• On the menu:
  • Fresh baked bread (follow your nose!)
  • At least 4 flavors of homemade hummus (vegan & gluten free)
  • Pita (vegan) and veggies (vegan and gluten free)
  • Fruit (vegan and gluten free)
  • Sloppy Joes (pork free; gluten free – unless you put it on a bun )

  Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank (350 Opportunity Pkwy, Akron, OH 44307). The deadline to sign up is Friday, July 30th at noon.

The Akron-Canton Barristers, in partnership with the University of Akron School of Law, is excited to announce the Akron-Canton Barristers Judicial Externship Program (“Program”). The Program is a diversity initiative that provides qualified minority students attending the University of Akron School of Law the opportunity to work as legal externs (for course credit) with select judges and magistrate judges in the Northern District of Ohio (placements for fall include Akron, Cleveland, and Youngstown). To be eligible, you must have completed 29 credit hours, be in good academic standing, and be a minority law student. 

To apply, students must complete an application form and return the application form, along with a resume, to Assistant Dean Alisa Benedict O’Brien: ab139@uakron.edu no later than Friday, July 16, 2021. Applications will be reviewed by the Akron-Canton Barristers Externship Program Committee and students will be notified about interviews and placements by early August. If selected, students will need to register for the Externship course for fall. Please contact Dean O’Brien for an application or with any questions.
