Consider Digital Forensics with Professor Gentithes this summer

When the modern revolution in digital data collection meets time-honored constitutional traditions and long-established evidentiary rules, how will our courts adjust? Find out in Professor Gentithes’s Digital Forensics course this summer. The course will introduce students to the constitutional parameters and evidentiary limitations that apply to the introduction of digital evidence in both civil and criminal courtrooms. It will also examine emerging topics in the creation and collection of digital evidence, including smart devices for individual use, social media technologies, and data aggregation and analytical methods employed by government bodies and technology giants. Learn to make sense of the data deluge while preserving individual privacy in Digital Forensics!

Akron Law Trial Team Tryouts

Akron Law’s Competition Trial Team will be hosting virtual try outs on May 15th. 
Students going into their 2L and 3L years are eligible. 
Two information sessions will be hosted for anyone interested in joining the team.

The ABA SOGI Commission is now accepting applications for the LGBT Public Interest Scholarship for Summer/Fall 2021 through April 31, 2021.

This scholarship is aimed at recent law students and/or law school graduates studying for the Bar who are either LGBTQ+ or who will be working in the LGBTQ+ space doing public interest work which may include, but not be limited to, working for Community Based Organizations (“CBO’s”); Non-Governmental Organizations (“NGO’s); policy work in a governmental and/or non-governmental setting; doing academic research, teaching or the like; or any other type of program that helps to promote and protect the Rule of Law and the civil and human rights of LGBTQ+ persons.

The Scholarship will provide financial support to a first, second or third year law student, or recent law graduate to enable the student or recent law graduate to work in the LGBTQ+ public interest arena.

One or more scholarships of up to $5,000 each are awarded annually, subject to the availability of funds and the recommendation of the Commission’s Scholarship Committee. The objective is to award the first scholarship(s) in time for the recipient(s) to utilize the funds during Summer/Fall 2021.

Application Process:

  1. Complete application online.
  2. Also required:
    i. Current resume
    ii. Law School Transcript
    iii. Personal statement; not exceeding 500 words.
  3. Submit all three documents to sogi@americanbar.org by April 30, 2021.
