Akron Law Students, Faculty, and Staff! Join SBA on April 9th from 5:30-7:00pm for a fun night of trivia and help raise funds for the Public Interest Fellowship Program. Scholarship applicants must attend. Trivia teams of 4 will be randomly selected to encourage networking. Students are free, General Admission is $20.
The first, second, and third place winners will each receive a $200 basket of gift cards. There will also be drawings during the night where the first winner will have their pick from: A night of golf, lessons, food and drinks at Mud Run Golf Course and Driving Range for up to 6 people.
The date will be mutually agreed upon by the winner and Mud Run, in May, June or July. Includes range balls for 6, a golf pro on site to offer tips and techniques, food and drink. OR Two study rooms in the Law School (Room 276 in the Law Library and Room 117 in the Commons). The two winners will be able to reserve the rooms for an entire day of their choosing during reading period or exams. You can purchase raffle ticket to enter the drawing for $10. To increase your chances, entries are unlimited!

The University of Akron’s Intellectual Property Center has helped the USPTO organize an event for the U.S. IP Attaché program! We have teamed up with over 10 other Midwestern Schools for a virtual program where you can learn about the fascinating work of the U.S. “intellectual property diplomats.”
The event will be held April 13, 2021 10:30am-11:30am EDT
We know this program is during spring break, but we hope you can take a break to join us. IP attachés are U.S. diplomats who help to improve IP systems abroad using their extensive IP knowledge and experience. Tune in to hear them discuss how their fascinating careers have helped constructively shape intellectual properties laws in other countries.
To learn more about the USPTO’s IP Attaché program, visit https://www.uspto.gov/ip-policy/ip-attache-program. In addition, flyers have been included in this email that contains background information and operating locations of this program, such as Beijing, Geneva, and Rio de Janeiro.
Due to most classes switching to online formats, the L.A.W. executive board decided to move Canned Immunity onto a virtual platform once again!
The rules are still the same, $2 or 2 cans per ticket or $5 or 5 cans for three tickets. Tickets can be used to receive “immunity” from being called on in select classes. Email your ticket to your professor the day you want to use the ticket. One ticket may be used per class. Please see the list of participating professors and restrictions.
L.A.W. and Professors will be implementing the Honor Code on ticket usage. Due to COVID-19 there are many food insecure families in our area who need help. It would be shameful to take advantage of Canned Immunity.
