*Expungement Clinic Seeking Student Volunteers*

The Expungement Clinic helps low-income Summit County residents seal the record of their criminal convictions.  A sealed record enables many people better access to jobs, housing, and volunteer opportunities.  Students will learn integral skills in the legal field including record searches, reading court dockets, completing applications to file with the court, and interviewing real clients.

There will be a mandatory training session on Friday, November 15th, 2019 from 4:00 to 5:00 P.M.in the Law School Room 301. (Room subject to change) (You may need to attend training if you have not been trained in the recent changes in Ohio’s expungement law).  You will need a laptop for training and the Clinic.

Scholarship Opportunity

 At The Law Offices of Randolph Rice located in Baltimore, MD, we understand that the leaders of tomorrow are working and often sacrificing to receive an education today. The purpose is to award a $1,500 scholarship each year to a deserving student to apply towards college or law school costs and help that student realize his or her potential.

Wellness Event at the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association

On Tuesday, November 13th from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association (CMBA) and Cleveland Clinic present Dr. Michael Roizen.  He is the Cleveland Clinic’s Chief Wellness Officer and nationally-recognized speaker on wellness.  Dr. Roizen is an award-winning author, and has been the doctor to eight Nobel Prize winners and more than 100 Fortune 500 CEOs. Dr. Roizen frequently appears on the Dr. Oz show and has co-authored books with Dr. Mehmet Oz. Dr.  Roizen strives to get his patients to live to 100 years of age regardless of profession.  He advises countless professionals, including lawyers, on how to modify their lifestyles to live long even if in stressful professions.  

There is no fee for students, which includes lunch.  This is a great networking opportunity too!  To register, students should contact CMBA Director of CLE and Sections Kari Burns at kburns@clemetrobar.org.  Additionally, the cost of the program is only $20 for non-profit and government attorneys.
