The Tennessee Future Leaders Scholarship, offered by Barnes & Fersten, awards $1,500 annually to students pursuing careers in law, political science, criminal justice, public administration, or related fields. The scholarship aims to support the next generation of leaders, policymakers, and legal advocates, empowering students to shape the future of Tennessee through policy, governance, and legal advocacy.

Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited college or university.
  • Must be pursuing a degree in law, political science, criminal justice, public administration, or a related field.
  • Must demonstrate a passion for leadership, public service, or the legal field.

Requirements:

  • A 500-word essay detailing how the applicant plans to make a positive impact in their community and state.
  • Provide a current academic transcript and proof of enrollment.
  • Open to high school seniors, undergraduate students, and graduate students who meet the qualifications.

The Devadoss Law Firm Civil Rights Scholarship $1000

Twice a year, the Devadoss Law Firm offers a Civil Rights Scholarship worth $1,000 to college students throughout the United States pursuing a law degree. Our award is available to students who meet the following criteria:

Eligibility:

  • Current or aspiring law student
  • Citizen or permanent resident of the United States
  • Enrolled at an accredited college or university within the United States as an undergraduate or graduate student for the upcoming semester
  • At least 17 years of age

Scholarship Application Requirements:

  • Submit a video (max 5 minutes) or essay (max 1,000 words) addressing civil rights challenges faced by millennial workers and how to protect their workplace rights.
  • Demonstrate a passion for civil rights and knowledge of employment law.
  • Include contact information and proof of enrollment.

The application deadline for our scholarship is September 3, 2025, with a winner to be selected by October 3, 2025.

PITTSBURGH INJURY LAWYERS P.C.$500 SCHOLARSHIP ESSAY CONTEST 2024

Pittsburgh Medical Malpractice Lawyers   are known for getting substantial judgments in Court for victims of medical malpractice. We would like to help the future generation of medical malpractice lawyers with their education costs by offering an annual $500 scholarship. The scholarship will be based on an essay competition with a topic based on medical malpractice law.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • The Scholarship opportunity is open to both undergraduate students wishing to go to law school sometime in the future and current graduate/law students. All applicants must be actively enrolled in a U.S. undergraduate, graduate, or law school program.
  • All submissions should contain the authors name, address, phone number, current major and college
  • All entries must be emailed to  2024pittsburghscholarship@gmail.com
  • All entries must be in .pdf format
  • All submissions must be submitted by July 31, 2024.
  • Winner will be announced via our website on August 31, 2024.

2024 ESSAY TOPIC

How will medical malpractice law be affected by the increasing frequency of telemedicine? Will proving liability for malpractice become more difficult, easier, or remain unchanged? Explain.

Guidelines:

  • Use a maximum of 1500 words.
  • Specifically answer the question(s) provided.
  • Use caselaw and online articles to support your answer.
  • Proper spelling, grammar, and citations should be used.
  • Any submissions will be scanned for plagiarism

LexisNexis

Lexis+ IDs: Spring graduates have access to Lexis+ via their law school IDs through December 31, 2023, except for public records. This ID also grants access to the Graduate Home Page (detailed below).
LexisNexis Rewards Point Expiration: Like previous years, spring graduates have until June 30, 2023 to redeem their LexisNexis Rewards points.
Graduate Home Page: On July 10, 2023, the spring graduates’ view of the Law School Home Page will switch from their current view to the graduate view. This new view will provide helpful information for their careers and job search. Grads will also be able to select a “Graduate Gift.”

Summer Database Access for Continuing Law Students

Lexis:
Access to Lexis+ will continue during the summer.  As long as you are registered for Lexis+ you do not have to do anything to continue using Lexis+ this summer.  You may use Lexis+ for work or school during the summer.  In the fall, usage reverts back to academic use only.

Westlaw
You can use Thomson Reuters products, including Westlaw® and Practical Law over the summer for non-commercial research. You can turn to these resources to gain understanding and build confidence in your research skills, but you cannot use them in situations where you are billing a client. Examples of permissible uses for your academic password include the following:

Summer coursework
Research assistant assignments
Law Review or Journal research
Moot Court research
Non-Profit work (either required for graduation or as part of a class)
Clinical work
Externship sponsored by the school

Bloomberg Law

Access to Bloomberg Law continues over the summer.  You may use Bloomberg Law for any purpose during the summer as well as year-round.  You may access by creating your own account using your law school email address or via the law school VPN. The court dockets and transactional resources may be particularly useful to those working at law firms over the summer. Be aware of the per-person limits of 15,000 pages for dockets.
