Affordable Care Act Online Discussion with Prof. Huhn – July 12, 2012 (Registration Required by July 5)

The Supreme Court’s Decision on the Constitutionality of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act

On July 12, 2012, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., The University of Akron School of Law will present a one hour program on the upcoming decision of the Supreme Court in United States Department of Health and Human Services v. IMPORTANT!    YOU MUST ALSO REGISTER FOR THIS FREE EVENT by emailing Michele Novachek at manovac@uakron.edu on or before July 5 so you may receive seminar materials in advance and instructions for set-up to participate. 

To attend this program you must have the following equipment: a computer; reliable access to the internet; a headset with microphone to prevent everybody else from hearing feedback from your computer; and, if you would like to be seen by others, a webcam.

The presenter will be Professor Wilson R. Huhn. Professor Huhn is the author of the book ObamaCare: Is It Necessary, What Will It Accomplish, Is It Constitutional? and the attorney of record of an amicus brief submitted to the Supreme Court in this case. November 1 Deadline: Application to take the February 2013 bar examination
Note: The dates for the February 2013 bar examination are Feb. 26, 27, and 28
November 5 Admissions Ceremony for successful July examinees who have met all admission requirements
The Nov. 5 Bar Admissions ceremony will be recorded as a service for the newly admitted attorneys, their families and guests. The video will contain coverage of the entire event, including all speakers and the presentation of wall certificates. November 15 Deadline: Timely Application to Register as a Candidate for Admission to the Practice of Law (for applicants in the second year of law school)
December 10 Deadline: Late Application to take the February 2013 bar examination

Important Reminder Regarding Pro Bono/Community Service Hours!

Reminder that all pro bono and community service hours completed during the Spring semester must be reported online and you must hand in your Certification of Supervisor form by this Friday, June 29th.

Also, 2013 Graduates – remember that your 30 hours must be complete in order to graduate in May and you must complete Professor Joann Sahl’s non-credit course entitled “Pro Bono Service Requirement” prior to graduation. Thank you.

 Please join the Akron Bar Association’s University of Akron Liaison Committee for a lunchtime cookout on Wednesday, June 20th from 12:15 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. on the lawn outside of the School of Law’s West Hall. Help us support our recent law school grads studying for the July bar exam by stopping for a bite to eat and some fun socializing! All are welcome and encouraged to attend: bar takers, law students, summer clerks, local attorneys, magistrates and judges.
