From Career Planning – Don’t Miss Today’s OCI Resume Submission Deadlines

Today at 5 p.m. is the deadline for all interested students to submit their application materials for several OCI law firms who are interviewing on campus as well one resume collect firm. Other deadlines are coming up later this week. Don’t miss out on these great opportunities.

URGENT: Jones Day Resume Collect – Deadline Changed

CHANGE IN DEADLINE TO SUBMIT RESUME FOR JONES DAY – Please note that, per the firm’s request, the deadline for students to submit their resume for consideration by the Cleveland law firm, Jones Day, has been moved to Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at 4 p.m.  If you would like to be considered, you must submit a resume and cover letter to the Career Planning Office by that time.  Please stop by or call the Career Planning Office if you have any questions.

Street Law Volunteers Needed

The Akron Bar Association is looking for volunteers for Street Law.  Street Law is an award-winning, law-related outreach program in Summit County high schools.  The Akron Bar Association Street Law Committee has partnered with area schools, the University of Akron School of Law and various community organizations and government offices to establish Street Law as a high school elective course.  As a volunteer, you will serve as a resource to the teachers teaching Street Law.  You will be in contact with the teacher you are assigned to and may be asked general questions or to come and help teach a class.  Through this you will gain valuable networking experience by working closely with the attorneys who are assigned as resources as well.  If interested, please e-mail streetlaw@akronbar.org.

Zip Card at the Law Library

Effective August 16, 2010, the Law Library will no longer handle cash or checks.  Patrons wishing to pay overdue fines at the Law Library will need to use a Zip Card.  Funds may be deposited to a Zip Card at one of three Zip Card Offices on campus, at one of the Value Transfer Stations throughout campus (including the Law Library), or online.  Patrons wishing to pay with cash or check may do so at the Main University Library or the Science and Technology Library.
