Volunteer Tutors needed at Summit County Juvenile Court Family Resource Center
The Summit County Juvenile Court Family Resource Center is looking for volunteer tutors to provide homework help in a one on one and small group setting. Tutoring sessions will occur on Wednesdays from 3:00-5:00pm at the Summit County Juvenile Court. Tutoring is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, September 24, 2014. Akron Law will co-sponsor cutting edge seminar on “The Social and Legal Implications of Same Sex Relationships”.
Akron Law will co-sponsor cutting edge seminar on “The Social and Legal Implications of Same Sex Relationships”.
This program, which will examine the practical legal issues for same sex couples arising out of everyday life including divorce, adoption, probate and child development, is a collaborative, interdisciplinary effort of the local family courts (domestic relations, probate, and juvenile), the judges of those courts, law professors, family development experts, social workers, and psychologists, and the practicing bar. During the program, experts from these areas will grapple with emerging and complex issues surrounding those involved in same sex relationships.
The program will take place on Thursday, September 11, 2014 from 8 a.m. – 4:15 p.m. at the Quaker Station in Akron, OH. Stephanie Coontz, a nationally recognized and award-winning author who is known for her willingness to challenge the historical narrative of traditional families and institutions, will offer the keynote address. Ms. Coontz’ books have been published in twelve languages and she has authored articles for inclusion in publications such as the New York Times and Journal of Marriage and Family. Stephanie makes regular television and radio appearances to discuss her areas of expertise.
