Street Law, Inc. is seeking a few law students to volunteer at local high schools. Street Law is a practical elective course taught throughout many high schools in Summit County. The time commitment will be approximately three hours for the entire semester. Although the time commitment is minimal, it is a valuable opportunity to get involved with the local community. Please email streetlaw@akronbar.org if you are interested in volunteering or have any questions.
Interested in Intellectual Property law? Join the Intellectual Property and Technology Law Association for their first general meeting on Wednesday, September 4 at 12:15pm in room L-167. Lunch will be served! Come meet fellow Akron Law students that are also interested in Intellectual Property!
The Expungement Clinic helps low-income Akron residents seal the record of their criminal convictions. A sealed record enables many people better access to jobs, housing, and volunteer opportunities. Students will learn integral skills in the legal field including filing paperwork with the court, drafting motions, interviewing real clients, and communicating with clients both through the mail and over the phone. Students who are eligible for a legal intern certificate will have ample opportunities to appear in court and present an oral argument.
A student commitment to the Expungement Clinic can be for as few or as many hours as the student pleases. The only requirement is that you devote enough time to attempt to contact your clients at least twice a week. These hours qualify as Pro Bono Limited Means.
There will be three training sessions this week. Students only need to attend one meeting These sessions are informational only, and students are welcome to attend simply for a brief overview of the law surrounding sealing of a conviction. The trainings will be Tuesday the 3rd at 12:30 PM, Wednesday the 4th at 12:30 PM, and Thursday the 5th at 4:30 PM. Sessions will be in the conference room of the Legal Clinic.

together for the seniors living in Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority apartments, and we need your help!
Earn community service of limited means hours!
Activities will include “hands-on” work of assisting senior residents with cleaning and organization needs of their
units, as well as joining senior residents for fun social activities. Bring your family and friends!
All participants will receive lunch and an “Akron Law CARES” t-shirt.
