CQE Volunteer Training and Clinic – June 13th and 14th

Our next free Certificate of Qualification for Employment (CQE) clinic is Saturday, June 14th. We’re very excited to be providing opportunities for ex-offenders in Summit County to take a step toward gaining employment and independence!

We are looking for students to volunteer from 9:00a-11:45a on Saturday, June 14. The clinic will be held at The Mount Calvary Baptist Church 442 Bell St. Akron. The time you volunteer can be applied toward your graduation requirement as pro bono limited means hours.

There will be a volunteer training on Friday, June 13 at the law school. The training will take place between 1:00 and 6:00 — the exact time will be determined by a poll of the students who will be participating in training. The time you’re at training will count toward your pro bono limited means hours as well. 1Ls are welcome to attend this training and volunteer at the clinic!!

Akron Bar Association Street Law Program Seeks Street Law Coordinator – deadline to apply is ASAP!

The Street Law Coordinator’s primary role is to coordinate the Street Law Program from the law school end by serving as the contact person between the Akron Bar Association Street Law Committee and the law school. Generally, the coordinator will help the Committee with the planning and preparation of each year’s program for the law student participants. The coordinator will participate in recruitment and placement of law students to assist in the high schools with the Street Law class. The coordinator will be responsible for disseminating information to the law student participants and to the Street Law teachers at the high schools.
There are additional job duties and the Intern will report to the Chair of the Street Law Committee.

Law Review Write-On Competition

The Akron Law Review Write-On Competition will begin on Thursday, May 29 at 9:00am. You will download the course on TWEN, where you will find instructions, the prompt, and sources, as this is a closed research competition. Anyone with questions should email the Executive Editor of Student Writing Bryan Meek at bem38@zips.uakron.edu
