CQE Clinic Volunteer Training – Friday, September 13, 5:00 pm

Our next free Certificate of Qualification for Employment (CQE) clinic is this Saturday, September 14! We’re very excited to be providing opportunities for ex-offenders in Summit County to take a step toward gaining employment and independence!

We are looking for students to volunteer from 9:15a-12:30p on Saturday, September 14. The clinic will be held at Akron Public Library – Main Branch, 60 South High Street, Akron. The time you volunteer can be applied toward your graduation requirement as pro bono limited means hours.

There will be a training on Friday, September 13, 5-6:15p at the law school for our volunteers. The time you spend at training will count toward your pro bono limited means hours as well.

If you’re interested in volunteering or have any questions, please e-mail Lyndsey at LLL35@zips.uakron.edu. You can also learn more about the clinic at our website: http://www.uakron.edu/law/clinical/cqe-clinic.dot

Join us on Friday, September 13 for Supreme Court Review 2013 — Legalistic Argel-Bargle

This program offers a comprehensive overview of all eighty cases from the United States Supreme Court’s past term. Justice Scalia described one of the major decisions as “argle-bargle” or nonsense, but this program tries to make sense of it all. Faculty experts from Akron Law discuss the Court’s cases in constitutional law, criminal law, civil procedure, administrative law, business, intellectual property, and health law. Designed in a newscast-type format, the presentations inform as they entertain. The program is intended for all interested audiences including attorneys, journalists, high school, college and law students and the general public.
