Second Years – attend the Mentor Program Training session

Attention Second Year Students! If you plan to participate in the 2013 Lawyer-to- Law Student Mentor Program, you must attend one of the MANDATORY Mentor Program Training Sessions:  Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at 12:20 in Room W-214 OR Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 5:15 in Room 151. You will receive an overview of the Mentor Program and former Law Student Mentees and Attorney Mentors will share their experiences with the Mentor Program and answer your questions.

 You must turn in a Mentor Program application, including the short answer questions, to the Career Planning Office by Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 12 noon. Applications are available online: https://www.uakron.edu/law/career/docs/2012-13-Mentee-Application.pdf or in the CPPO. You may turn in your application at the Training Session as well.

Getting Ready for Exams and How They Are Graded

Learn the ins and outs of getting ready for finals!  We wiill discuss how to conserve your time and energy, study what’s important, and score the necessary points.  Join us for this nuts-n-bolts workshop that will show you how to survive the next 5 weeks! This workshop will run 11/5 from 5-6 for evening students and 11/6 from 1:10-2:10 for day students.  We will meet in Room 301.  To RSVP, please email dpalmer1@uakron.edu.

AkronLawJobs Job No. 3932 – The Office of the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio is responsible for the prosecution of all federal crimes in northern Ohio.  The office also represents the United States and its departments and agencies in civil proceedings filed in federal court and in the Sixth Circuit.  Volunteer law clerks assist in the prosecution and defense of both criminal and civil cases in the District Court, the Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the Bankruptcy Court.
Projected No. of Volunteers:  14-15 (Students entering their third year are preferred).

Pro Bono Limited Means Opportunity!

The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland has scheduled two Brief Advice Clinics in the next week and needs at least 10 students to volunteer at each. 

The first will be this Saturday, November 3rd at Neighborhood Housing Services in Slavic Village from 9:30 am – 12:00 noon. 

The second will be on Wednesday November 7th at The Rice Branch of The Cleveland Public Library near Shaker Square from 5:45 pm – 8:00 pm.

 

Both of these clinics require no experience and you do not need to bring any materials.  There will be a short overview of clinic procedures when you first arrive.  Please only sign up for one of these events.
