Free February Bar Exam Workshop Series

All DECEMBER 2012 GRADUATES (and any past graduates)

Are you taking the February 2013 Bar Exam?*

Akron Law is offering a FREE workshop called ESSENTIAL LEGAL CONCEPTS (ELC) to help prepare you for the upcoming February bar exam. The workshop will focus on your understanding of the bar exam and provide you with essential skills needed to effectively study for specifically the Ohio Bar exam, but most information would be applicable bar exams for other states. Akron Law strongly encourages your enrollment in this workshop. However, this workshop is not designed to replace any bar exam preparation course you are taking, but rather to be a supplement.

The workshop will be held beginning on Tuesdays, beginning Tuesday, October 16 through Tuesday, November 20, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in Room 215 (Oct. 16), then Room 301 thereafter.

Enrollment is on a first come, first serve basis and open to the first 30 current students to enroll. Any past students wishing to take the workshop are also welcome, but their request to enroll will be placed on a waiting list and considered only after current student enrollment has occurred. *If you are a current student and not taking the Ohio bar, the course may not be catered to your specific bar exam, but you are still welcome to participate.

ENROLLMENT:To enroll, please contact Misty Franklin at misty@uakron.edu No later than October 12, 2012. Please provide Misty with your name, which state’s bar exam you are taking and when, and whether you are a current student. Please indicate that you wish to enroll in the Fall 2012 ELC course taught by Prof. Hightower.  All enrolled students will receive an e-mail from the instructor prior to the workshop. Should any student be placed on the waiting list, you will receive a confirmation of your enrollment after the enrollment deadline has passed.

QUESTIONS?  If you have any questions regarding the workshop in general, please contact Akron Law Bar Exam Coordinator, Prof. Kani Harvey Hightower at khh1@uakron.edu.

Pro Bono Limited Means Opportunity!

The Summit County Juvenile court seeks law students who can volunteer at the Attorney Help Desk every Wednesday from 1-4:30. It is not necessary that you volunteer every Wednesday. The law student would assist clients with completing pro se forms in custody or delinquency issues. The court will provide training. The court would prefer a second or third year student who has taken juvenile and/or family law, but will consider all interested volunteers. If you would like to volunteer, please contact David Horner 330-643-2562.
