The Law School has four tickets to the pre-Jammin’ for Justice VIP reception this Friday, May 4 from 5 – 6 p.m. The VIP reception will be held at Uncorked Wine Bar upstairs from Musica. Only those with tickets will be able to gain entrance to the VIP event. You may request up to two tickets. Tickets will be given away on a first come, first served basis. E-mail  CPPO Director, Barbara Weinzierl (bcw@uakron.edu) and specify if you would like one or two tickets.  Winners will notified via e-mail.

Baker Donelson Diversity Scholarship Application Now Available!  Application deadline is June 22, 2012.   

 Baker Donelson is committed to fostering an inclusive environment where the individual differences among us are understood, respected, appreciated and recognized as sources of strength of the Firm. These qualities enrich the environment in which we work. With this in mind, Baker Donelson will again award three scholarships to diverse law students who will complete their first year of law school by June 2012. Recipients will be awarded a six-week, salaried 2L Summer Associate position for the summer of 2013 in one of our following offices: Birmingham, AL; Orlando, FL; Atlanta, GA; Baton Rouge and New Orleans, LA; Jackson, MS; Chattanooga, Johnson City, Knoxville, Memphis and Nashville, TN; or Houston, TX.  Additionally, each recipient will be awarded $10,000 which will be paid prior to the student’s third year of law school to help defray the cost of law school tuition and related expenses.

Akron, OH: The Honorable Judge Annalisa Williams has an opening this fall for a part-time 1st or part-time or full-time 2nd  year law student to work 15-37.5 hours a week (depending on the applicant’s availability) at a pay rate of $11.00 an hour. All applicants must be in top 50% of class, must have civil procedure and must be available to train for the position during the summer. The selected applicant will be required to maintain Judge Williams’ civil docket. This position involves extensive legal research and writing, including researching legal issues, drafting legal orders, drafting trial opinions, and assisting in the resolution of legal disputes.
