Wednesday, February 17 at 12:15 and 5:15 – Room W-206: Presentation on the College Cost Reduction and Access Act (CCRAA). The Career Planning Office is pleased to welcome Anneliese Gryta, Akron Law alum, Equal Justice Works AmeriCorps Legal Fellow, attorney with Legal Aid of Western Ohio and expert on the CCRAA. Ms. Gryta will be at the Law School to discuss the benefits of CCRAA. Come hear her talk and learn about Income Based Repayment (allows students to link federal student loan payments to their income level) and Public Service Loan Forgiveness (complete loan forgiveness of federal student loans after 10 years of full time employment in a public service job). Lunch served for those who attend.

Mentor Program Reception Tonight – Feb. 16, 5 – 6:30

Just a reminder to all first years who signed up for the Akron Bar Assn./Akron Law School Mentor Program – – the Kick-off reception is tonight (Tuesday, Febraury 16) from 5 – 6:30 at the Akron Bar offices, 57 S. Broadway. You should have received the info on your assigned mentor in an e-mail and a hard copy in your mailbox yesterday. Please remember to reach out to your mentor and tell them that you’ll be there tonight.  Many students have also asked what they should wear to the recpetion tonight and my advice is tailored, business casual dress.  See you tonight. LawLawPalooza – February 26, 9 pm at The Lounge in Downtown Akron

The 2nd annual Law Law Palooza will take place Friday, February 26th, at The Lounge in downtown Akron at 9pm. Law Law Palooza is an open mic night open to all law students and faculty. Students will have up to 15 minutes to perform but can play less if they would prefer. There will be an acoustic guitar and keyboard provided, but students should feel free to bring their own instruments. This is a casual event and first time performers are welcomed and encouraged. Back by popular demand, Professor Carolyn “88 Keys” Dessin will take the stage this year with special guest, Assistant Dean Lauri Thorpe.  There will be a $5 cover and judgments and inhibitions will be checked at the door.
