The BLSA Quiz Bowl, originally scheduled for Saturday, March 13, has been postponed. A new date has not yet been determined. Another announcement will be sent when BLSA is able to reschedule.
LEXIS and WESTLAW Academic Password Use
Your law school passwords for LEXIS and WESTLAW must only be used for educational purposes directly related to coursework at the law school. Other use may be a violation of the Student Disciplinary Code and a breach of our contracts with LEXIS and WESTLAW. Using LEXIS or WESTLAW to do research in a paid position as a law clerk, intern, or clinician working for a firm, governmental entity or a nonprofit organization would violate the Student Disciplinary Code. Also, you are not permitted to conduct legal research on LEXIS and WESTLAW for friends and family.
In addition to sanctions by the School of Law, a contract violation can result in having to pay the vendors for the services misused. Repayment will be at commercial rates of about $2.00 – $5.00 per minute. Moreover, violators are likely to lose their privileges to use LEXIS and WESTLAW as students. A pattern of violations at our school could result in the vendors canceling our contracts, which would have a devastating impact on all students and faculty.

Don’t Forget Casemaker
As an alternative to using Lexis or Westlaw, you may use Casemaker, the database available from the Ohio State Bar Association. All Ohio law students may join the Ohio State Bar Association for free and your free membership includes access to Casemaker. Casemaker has no academic password restrictions so you can use it to conduct research for your summer jobs.

Mahoning County Bar Association Scholarship
The Mahoning County Bar Foundation is a non-profit organization, primarily funded by the members of the Mahoning County Bar Association. Each year it funds scholarships for persons having substantial ties to the Mahoning Valley who are about to enter, or who have already entered, law school. These scholarships typically range from $1,000-2,000 and will be paid directly to the law school toward your tuition.

J. Andrew Fulker Scholarship
The Scholarship Committee of the Miami County Bar Association announces it is currently receiving applications for scholarship grants from the J. Andrew Fulker Memorial Scholarship Fund. The Fund was established, in cooperation with the Troy Foundation, as a lasting tribute to Troy Attorney J. Andrew Fulker who died in an auto accident in 1989.
Andy Fulker was a 1971 graduate of Troy High School. He received a Bachelor’s Degree from The Ohio State University in 1976 and his Juris Doctor degree from California Western School of Law in 1979. He was admitted to the practice of law in Ohio in 1979 and became a partner in the Troy law firm of Faust, Harrelson, Fulker & McCarthy. He served as Assistant Municipal Prosecutor for the City of Troy from 1979 to 1982 and as counsel for the Miami County Planning and Zoning Boards from 1979 through 1981. He was a member of the Miami County, Ohio State, and American Bar Associations, the Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers, Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and Ohio Association of Civil Trial Attorneys.
The scholarship fund is designed to assist deserving law students who are residents of Miami County. Recipients of J. Andrew Fulker Memorial Scholarship grants will be selected by the Scholarship Committee of the Miami County Bar Association. Grants will be used for law school tuition. To be eligible an applicant must be admitted for fulltime attendance at a college of law or law school in a program designed to lead to a Juris Doctor or similar law degree.
