The Akron Match COVID-19

The Akron Match COVID-19 is a program to help match individuals who are high-risk for contracting COVID-19 to low-risk individuals that can assist the community. Akron COVID-19 Match was created at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic to aid community members. Volunteers included many Akron Law students and had significant initial success. As the pandemic continued, volunteer retention, and client attraction declined.

Our group aims to attract new clients and volunteers, to contact and encourage current volunteers to continue their work, to find new marketing strategies, to plan for longevity, to provide vaccine resources, and to engage the Akron Law community.

At this time, we are searching both for volunteers and to take in new clients. For volunteers, we are looking for people to continue the work of running errands or helping those at-risk individuals in other ways, and we are also looking for potential Akron Law students to take over the program at the end of the semester and to continue carrying on this work in the community. Community service hours are available. If you or anyone you know could benefit from this program, please reach out.

Please visit our website, https://akronmatch.wixsite.com/mysite, for more information. A Facebook page will also be up and running soon.

If you have any interest in either volunteering or know a client in need, please feel free to contact us at our program’s email, akronmatch@gmail.com, or contact any of the following members for more information: Dominick Sawaya djs275@uakron.edu; Frank Wenner fdw3@uakron.edu; Briana Vamosi bev9@uakron.edu; or Kamryn Campbell kjc126@uakron.edu.
