Akron Law-CSU/CMLaw Virtual Forums Spring 2021

To inform the ongoing discussions about a potential partnership between our two law schools, the Cleveland State University Cleveland-Marshall College of Law (CSU/CMLaw) and The University of Akron School of Law (Akron Law) are hosting a series of virtual forums during February and March 2021. Members of the Joint Exploratory Working Group (EWG); faculty, staff, administrators, and students at both law schools; and members of each school’s alumni boards will be invited to attend.

Unless otherwise noted, these virtual forums will be held on Fridays from noon to 1:30 pm. Please reserve these times on your calendar.

The first two virtual forums will take place on Friday, February 12 and Friday, February 19. Information about the February 12th forum appears below. Videoconference links will be provided.

Forum 1: Friday, February 12 – The Business Side of Legal Education: Law School Enrollment and Tuition Financing

Reminder: Lexis and Westlaw are for Educational Use Only, with some exceptions

You are not permitted to use your law school Lexis or Westlaw accounts for non-educational use.  To do so is a violation of the Honor Code. The EXCEPTIONS to this are – Lexis usually announces that during the summer, you may use your school account for work.  More info Westlaw usually allows summer use so long as you are not billing a client. You can use Bloomberg Law for employment purposes. as well as most of the other databases the library makes available – https://www.uakron.edu/law/about-us/law-library-database.dot.

Alaska Scholarships for Law Students

The Alaska Bar Association announces a scholarship program for Alaskans in law school.  As the only state without a law school, our applicants come from law schools all over the country.  This scholarship is aimed at Alaska students who demonstrate ties to Alaska, and the intent to return to Alaska after graduation.  Applications can be found on the Alaska Bar Association website and they are due March 1.  To view the flyer, click here.
