Qualifications: Completed 1L by the application deadline of 12-31-2018 or 2L. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Degree in engineering (e.g., electrical, mechanical, or chemical)

Duties: Assisting patent attorneys with patent application preparation and prosecution, conducting prior art searches, and other patent-related projects.

Compensation: $35 per hour

Akron Law will be given early access to Westlaw Edge on September 1, 2018. Westlaw will look a little different, but will have the same search functionality as always – with some exciting new features:

  1. Westlaw Search Plus – Improved artificial intelligence searching helps to quickly find answers to legal questions. Westlaw Search Plus gives you predictive research suggestions as you type.
  2. Litigation Analytics – Compiles docket data to create a history and graphs of: a judge’s ruling tendencies, opposing counsel’s experience, win-rate of a law firm, and lots more.
  3. Overruling Risk Keycite Symbol – A new orange triangle with an exclamation point indicates a case may have been implicitly overruled -e.g., your case relied on another case that has been overruled.
  4. Statutes Compare – Easily compare different versions of a statute to see how the language changed over time.
