Solon, OH – Summer 2018 Legal Intern – Nestle USA

This comprehensive program provides selected high-caliber law students the opportunity to intern with the in-house legal team in Solon, OH. Participants will receive hands-on experience working with the Nestlé Legal team in areas such as intellectual property, litigation, commercial contracts, employment, advertising, food law and general legal matters. In–house lawyers will provide mentoring to participants with developmental feedback to gain a better understanding of the unique role of an in-house law department at the world’s largest food company. As a legal intern at Nestlé USA, you will gain exposure to senior legal leadership and develop your network.

Potential Duties: Reviewing and drafting commercial contracts; Assisting with the development of policies, training materials, checklists and guidelines in a variety of practice areas including employment and environmental law; Preparing cease and desist letters for commercial and intellectual property disputes; Investigating and managing potential trademark infringement matters; Research current trends in food law; and Digital and Social Media Matters.

UA BE THE CHANGE $10,000 CHALLENGE

Social Entrepreneurship Pitch Competition Presented by
The University of Akron

Have an idea to improve the community? BE THE CHANGE 10K is a pitch competition where University of Akron students have a chance to compete for a top prize of $10,000 to benefit the community.

Additional prizes will be awarded to runners-up. Think of this like Shark Tank, except that you are competing for prize money for a social cause that you care about.

STEPS TO APPLY

  • Complete this initial application by Monday, March 19th.
  • After we receive your initial application, you are then to meet with a community business mentor who will provide feedback on your idea.
  • Complete a two-page final application which provides more detail about your venture by Friday, March 23rd. 
    • The final application will be emailed to you after you submit your initial application.
  • Participate in the semi-final pitch competitions on April 3rd, 4th, and 5th.
  • Five finalists will compete at the final pitch competition on Thursday, April 19th.
    • The top prize of $10,000 will be awarded to the winner, and additional prizes in the thousands of dollars will be awarded to runners-up!

International Law Society Meeting on Feb. 19th

Hello International Law Society (ILS) members and friends:

Mark your calendars! Our next general body meeting is February 19, 2018 at 5:00 PM in L-161. This is our first general body meeting of the spring and one of our most important because we do have stacks of events planned this semester, so we HIGHLY encourage you to come (don’t worry – we will feed you!).

We will be doing some voting, so if you know you owe ILS dues, please make sure to come to the meeting or message Andrew Carroll (abc37@zips.uakron.edu) prior to the meeting.

We currently have two events that will be happening right after this meeting, for which we still need to do final planning, so please be sure to attend this meeting.

Also–we accept members year round, but T-shirts are ordered only in the Fall. So, if you know a spring start, bring them and their $10 to our meeting! 🙂
