Opportunity to join National Board of Directors of Law Students for Reproductive Justice

Applications to Join LSRJ’s National Board of Directors

Available Now!

Law Students for Reproductive Justice (LSRJ) is now accepting applications from law students interested in serving on the organization’s national board of directors during the 2011-2012 term. Student Directors shape LSRJ’s long-term organizational direction and serve as national leaders in the reproductive justice movement. Directors represent LSRJ at national and regional events; attend an annual in-person orientation, and participate in board and committee meetings, which convene in alternating months and are held via conference call. They also review income and expenses, engage in private fundraising, and help develop strategies and guidelines for organizational operations.

Other opportunities include: establishing personnel policies and procedures, working with national staff to support programming, selecting and orienting new board members, and serving as liaisons to the alumni and ally communities. The time commitment (excluding events) ranges from 5 to 10 hours per month.

LSRJ’s national board maintains a student majority. Student Directors serve an initial one-year term, followed by a possible one-year renewal term. Rising 2Ls are encouraged to apply. Students who serve during their 3L year and subsequently take a fellowship relating to reproductive rights will be eligible for a second term. The Board strives for diversity along multiple axes of identity.

Applications are due at 12:00 a.m. EST, March 12, 2011 to Lauren Mendonsa, lrsmendonsa@gmail.com. LSRJ will conduct phone interviews with finalists the last week in March and first week in April. Selected applicants must be able to attend the in-person orientation scheduled for June 17-19, 2011 at LSRJ’s national office in Oakland, CA.

All interested law students are encouraged to apply, and we look forward to your
application!
