Seeking volunteers for Fugitive Safe Surrender!

We are still in need of volunteers for the following dates and times:

Friday, June 27th from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM (need 2 volunteers)

Friday, June 27th from 2-6:00 PM (need 1 volunteer)

Earn pro bono of limited means hours!

Fugitive Safe Surrender, the House of the Lord, 1650 Diagonal Rd., Akron, OH, June 25 – 28,2014, 10 AM to 6 PM.

On the above dates and times the Ohio Attorney General’s office, in partnership with every major County and  City of Akron  public organization, will be conducting the most recent of several safe surrender programs. These programs were started by the United States Marshal several years ago and have now been taken over, in Ohio, by the Ohio Atty. Gen.’s office. The goal of the program is to create a safe haven for individuals with outstanding warrants, misdemeanor or felony, to surrender and have their cases disposed of before a Judge.

In the past events over the four days of these programs each year, over one thousand people have surrendered each time. The benefit to the community is that individuals who have outstanding warrants feel free to surrender, the need to arrest people unexpectedly is removed, and the fugitives can go on with their lives. This is a worthwhile program.

To volunteer for one of the above-named slots, please email Alisa Benedict O’Brien: ab139@uakron.edu
