Attn: First Year Students

First Year F-T and P-T students, please be advised that in an effort to keep the sections even, the Dean’s Office will administratively register you into your Spring courses.  Please refer to the Spring Schedule Materials to see when your respective courses will meet.

Additionally, an enrollment hold has been placed on your accounts preventing you from registering for classes.  You are required to attend one of the Mandatory Registration Sessions scheduled for Monday, November 17, 2014 at 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. and Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at 12:15 – 1:15 p.m.  Failure to attend one of these mandatory sessions will result in the enrollment hold remaining on your account preventing you from being registered for Spring courses by the Dean’s Office.

Pro Bono Opportunity for students!

The Summit County Juvenile Court is seeking a few law students to volunteer at the court on Wednesdays from 1pm to 4pm beginning as soon as possible. The opportunity would allow students to work closely with attorneys who are assessing the Juvenile Court’s jurisdiction over custody requests, and to assist in completing pro se pleadings and other forms. Volunteers will earn pro bono hours toward your graduation requirement. Interested students should send a resume to Director Benedict O’Brien: ab139@uakron.edu ASAP. Thank you.

Moot Court Mandatory Training Session – Thurs., Oct. 16, 5:30p

Moot Court Honor Society will be hosting a brief writing training session this Thursday, October 16, 2014 from 5:30pm – 6:30pm in Room L-167. Professor Morath will be presenting on the basic components of a brief and the different types of legal arguments that you can make (for the brief or the oral argument). This training is incredibly beneficial for everyone, even those that have had it before since you now have more experience and therefore a broader frame of reference. Although this training is required for MCHS members, it is open to everyone.

Please join us and email Monica (MLL71@zips.uakron.edu) if you have any questions.
