Constitutional Law Discussion Forum

The Presidential Election, the Supreme Court, and the Constitution will be the topic of the next Constitutional Law Forum on Tuesday, September 27th at 12:15 – 1:15 p.m. in room 140 at the McDowell Law Center. Please join us to express your opinions, listen to your colleagues, and debate the critically important constitutional issues that have arisen in this election. Moderated by Professor Emeritus Wilson Huhn and the Con Law Student Fellows. Pizza and soda will be provided.

Law Office of Jon Friedman Scholarship Opportunity

Law Office of Jon Friedman, Portland, Oregon has just announced an annual 

student scholarship program,and the winning applicant will receive $500 to 

help with their costs of education.

 

This scholarship opportunity is open to undergraduate, graduate, and 

community college students,as well as incoming college freshman. The

Law 1 Student Printer

We had to update the Law 1 student printer on Monday September 26th.  Anyone who has it installed will have to reinstall again.  Below are instructions on reinstalling the printer.

PC

  1. You must be connected to rootown or Roo-Secure
  2. Go to http://uauniprint2.uanet.edu/uniprint
  3. Click on the “Packages”tab
  4. Click on the particular printer that you want to install
  5. If prompted, click on “Run”
  6. If prompted, click on “Yes” to allow the program to make changes on your computer.
  7. Click on the Install button.  Installation may take a couple of minutes
  8. Once the installation is finished, click on the finish button.
  9. Your print job will show up at the release station.

Mac

  1. Open System Preferences
  2. Open Print & Fax
  3. Click on the + (plus) sign to add a new printer
  4. At the top of this dialog be sure IP Printer is selected and then apply the following settings:

Protocol: Line Printer Daemon – LPD
Address: uauniprint2.uanet.edu

Queue: NAME OF PRINTER YOU WISH TO ADD (look below for name)
Name: SOMETHING DESCRIPTIVE
Location: SOMTHING DESCRIPTIVE
Print Using: Select Printer Software  Be sure to select the appropriate printer driver for the printer you are connecting to.

  • Law 1 uses the Generic PostScript Printer Click AddWhen you go to retrieve your print job, you will swipe your ZipCard and find your print job listed as the “short name” on your local account.

Exciting Entrepreneurship Opportunity for 1L or 2L student!

Exciting opportunity for 1L or 2L student with a science, business, or engineering background who may be interested in participating in an NSF entrepreneurial project with the School of Biomedical Engineering to design of a multi-function, noninvasive Gerontechnology kiosk that enables older adults (age 60+) to monitor and diagnose an array of physical ailments inside of a single structure, such as diabetes, cholesterol, hypertension, fragility fractures (hip, wrist and spine fractures), using heart monitor, respirator, ultra sound imaging, blood pressure gauge, and nanotechnology. You will be working with an engineering student first to conduct market research to determine the viability of the proposal and potential customers, such as NASA, biomedical equipment manufacturers, nursing homes etc. Your role will be to meet with potential equipment manufacturers to determine the legal and IP issues related to product integration, licensing and risk assessment.

Your time commitment under the I-Corp program would require you be present at interactive meetings to present findings Fridays from noon -2:00 for 7 weeks on October 7, 21, Nov 4,11, and 18. If this project is selected for funding, the selected student will be eligible for the next phase which is product design and implementation and could result in a patented product for commercialization.
