First Year Career Planning Orientation:
ALL first year students must attend one (1) of the following sessions:
Monday, October 17 – 11:30 – 12:30 p.m. Law School Room 140
Monday, October 17 – 5:15 – 6:15 p.m. Law School Room 140
Tuesday, October 18 – 12:15 – 1:15 p.m. Law School Room 140
Tuesday, October 18 – 5:15 – 6:15 p.m. Law School Room 140
All first year students will receive the updated Career Planning Handbook and login information for Symplicity/AkronLawJobs following the sessions.

Spring start students: you are welcome to attend one of these sessions but not required.

International Law Career Presentation with President Wilson!

International Law Career Presentation
The International Law Society invites all of you for an event on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Noon in Room 140 of the Law School. If you’re interested in a career in International Law, or are undecided or curious about what International Law has to offer, this is the event you’d want to attend. Our very own former Law School Dean and current President of the University of Akron, Matthew Wilson, will be speaking at the event. President Wilson has much experience in the field of International Law and provides great insight on making a career in the International Law field. Come and learn more about the multiple careers involved and opportunities available in International Law. LUNCH will be provided.

MLSA First General Body Meeting

Our first meeting with be this Wednesday, October 12 in the law school building Room L-141 at 12:15 p.m.

We will be discussing potential and upcoming events and getting started on getting the ball rolling for MLSA!  We want to hear from everyone!  Also, we need to elect a 1L rep so 1L’s that are interested, please attend the meeting.  If you cannot make it , feel free to email, Samerra Allooh at sna36@zips.uakron.edu explaining your interest in being a 1L rep for MLSA and why.

Lunch will be provided.

Where are the Online Study Aids?

Besides all the great print study aids in ASP, students can also access ebook study aids.  If you go to the Library Homepage, click on  Law Databases.  From there, you will see links to:

  1. Akron Law Digital – contains titles published by Lexis, including the Questions and Answers and Understanding Series
  2. West Academic Study Aids – includes Gilbert Law Summaries, Sum and Substance titles, Black Letter Outlines and High Court Case Summaries.

Don’t worry about a particular title being checked out – there are plenty of copies for everyone! Contact the library if you need help accessing these titles.

Thomas, Webb & Willis, LLC Scholarship

Thomas, Webb & Willis, LLC is pleased to offer their “Academic Achiever Scholarship”.  This scholarship is reserved for high school students nationwide and also current college students that plan on or are currently attending a 4-year college or university and also has a minimum 3.75 GPA and above.

– Funds will be sent directly to the college/university of the winning applicant

– Scholarship is a one-time award worth $1,000

– Scholarship deadline is May 31, 2017
