IP Docket Clerk Position

Cleveland, OH – Docket Clerk – Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff, LLP      

AkronLawJobs No. 8471 Overview: Benesch is seeking an Intellectual Property Docket Clerk for our Cleveland office location.  Under minimum supervision, the IP Docket Clerk performs day-to-day docketing of IP correspondence received via mail, fax, and email.  Regularly monitors docketing database records in order to discover discrepancies and make corrections as needed.  The IP Docket Clerk acts as a docketing resource to IP department personnel.  Provides consistent high-quality service to IP department personnel.

Duties:  Using docketing software, apply knowledge to effectively review and docket inbound and outbound correspondence from the USPTO and other external sources such as foreign associates, foreign IP authorities, and clients; docket internal correspondence and attorney requests; apply sound judgment to ensure data is complete and reliable.  Generate IP docket reports as needed or requested.   Advise necessary IP personnel of daily deadlines and confirm with them that such deadlines have been met.  Communicate properly and promptly with all internal personnel exhibiting a high level of customer service at all times.  Research various online patent and trademark databases as necessary.  Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: The Intellectual Property Docket Clerk must have a High School Diploma.  One to two years of experience in intellectual property docketing is preferred.  Must possess a high degree of computer literacy.  Must be detail oriented, possess exceptional organizational skills, have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.  Must possess an excellent customer service attitude.  Flexibility to work overtime as necessary.
