Our Growth and Academic Diversity (GRAD) program is a semester-long program in which selected student(s) will have the opportunity to work with leading attorneys to gain substantive knowledge and practical law firm experience.
Description: For the spring of 2018 (Jan-May), McDonald Hopkins is pleased to offer third-year law students two opportunities to participate in the GRAD program:
• Data privacy and cybersecurity: McDonald Hopkins is a recognized leader in the area of data privacy and cybersecurity. Students who have an interest in pursuing a legal career in the field of data privacy and cybersecurity should apply for this opportunity, which is located in our Detroit, Michigan Office.
• Energy: McDonald Hopkins has a robust and growing energy practice, providing client service on the energy spectrum from
production, generation, and transmission, to distribution and sales. Students who have an interest in pursuing a legal career in the
field of energy should apply for this opportunity, which is located in our Cleveland or Columbus, Ohio Offices.
Eligibility Criteria: • Applicant must be in their third year of law school by the fall of 2017.• The Firm encourages applicants from groups or populations that have been historically underrepresented in the legal profession or have other unique attributes that would contribute to the diversity of our firm or the legal profession. These include, but are not limited to, racial and ethnic minorities, women, LGBT individuals, individuals with disabilities, veterans, and individuals with other diverse backgrounds.
GRAD Program Terms: It is anticipated that the GRAD program participants will work 15-20 hours per week and will be paid $20/hour. In addition, the student will receive a scholarship award of $5000. Based on successful performance and the Firm’s staffing needs, opportunities may be available for a position following graduation.
