Position ONE – Summer 2019 GENERAL EXTERNSHIP – UNPAID

The NASA GRC OCC Summer PATENT EXTERNSHIP focuses on the practice of patent law. Externs will get to experience the role of an in-house patent attorney first hand while working on special projects closely with a NASA Supervising Patent Attorney. Extern projects include, for example, researching IP-related issues, evaluating new invention disclosures, assessing patentability searches, participating in discussions with scientists and technology transfer members regarding commercialization and patentability supporting efforts to draft new patent applications and responding to patent office actions before the US Patent Office, and assisting with the submission of patent filing documents such as inventor assignments and declarations. This opportunity is an unpaid externship. Qualifications: 2L & PT 3L. Great for 2019 spring starts. US Citizen, Over the age of 18, valid state-issued photo ID, consent to a background check, Completed AT LEAST 3 semesters of law school. Have an interest in public service, government contracting, federal labor and employment, and/or intellectual property as it pertains to Federal entities, plus strong writing and research skills.

POSITION TWO – Summer 2019 Patent externship – UNPAID
Qualifications: 1L, 2L; U.S. Citizen, valid state-issued photo ID, consent to a background check, A bachelor’s degree in a science of engineering field (eligible to sit for the U.S. Patent Bar Exam), strong writing and research skills, and completed at least one year of law school when the summer begins. Requirements: Prefer: Completion of a patent law course is preferred.

Samuel Krugliak Legal Scholarship

In 2003 the Samuel Krugliak Legal Scholarship was established to honor the
firm’s founder, Samuel Krugliak who passed away in April of that year. Funds from the Samuel Krugliak Scholarship Endowment will be awarded annually to part-time or full-time students who are currently enrolled at a law school accredited by the American Bar Association (note: incoming first year law students are not eligible); display strong academic achievement; have shown an active commitment to their community; reside or have formerly resided in Stark, Wayne, Carrol, Holmes, Summit, Tuscarawas, Columbiana or Mahoning Counties (the “Stark County Region”) when not attending law school; and desire to pursue the practice of law in the “Stark County Region”. Students/Applicants should exhibit financial need, with priority given to those whose financial need cannot be met through other means such as government grants and loans. The award will be limited to the cost of tuition, books and lab supplies. Students who remain eligible may reapply for the scholarship from year-to-year, thereby assisting students in completing their degrees. Please indicate in the Essay portion, in 250 words or less, why you desire to practice law in the “Stark County Region”. Note: The essay submission must be typewritten.
