The Akron-Canton Barristers, in partnership with the University of Akron School of Law, is excited to announce the Akron-Canton Barristers Judicial Externship Program (“Program”). The Program is a diversity initiative that provides qualified minority students attending the University of Akron School of Law the opportunity to work as legal externs (for course credit) with select judges and magistrate judges in the Northern District of Ohio (placements for fall include Akron, Cleveland, and Youngstown). To be eligible, you must have completed 29 credit hours, be in good academic standing, and be a minority law student.
To apply, students must complete an application form and return the application form, along with a resume, to Assistant Dean Alisa Benedict O’Brien: email@example.com no later than Friday, July 16, 2021. Applications will be reviewed by the Akron-Canton Barristers Externship Program Committee and students will be notified about interviews and placements by early August. If selected, students will need to register for the Externship course for fall. Please contact Dean O’Brien for an application or with any questions.
