Overview: Texas Defense Firm offers the Comeback Scholarship to support students who have been significantly affected by incarceration, domestic violence, or addiction in their own lives or within their families. One student receives the award per college semester.
Eligibility Requirements:
- You or your family must have been significantly affected by incarceration, domestic violence, and/or addiction
- Have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher
- Be enrolled or planning to enroll in an undergraduate or graduate program in the United States for the Spring 2027 semester
- Be at least 17 years old
- Be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
Application Requirements:
- Submit an application through the OVC Scholarship Network
- Write an essay of approximately 750 words responding to: “How has overcoming adversity shaped your character, and how have you transformed these experiences into opportunities for growth and personal development?”
- Use your own authentic writing; the scholarship page asks applicants not to use AI to write their essays
