Share the Wealth Judicial Clerkship Program – Federal Magistrate Judge Clerkship Interview Opportunities (2017–2018 Term)

Share the Wealth Judicial Clerkship Program
Federal Magistrate Judge Clerkship Interview Opportunities (2017–2018 Term)

The application deadline is August 26, 2016

Just The Beginning – A Pipeline Organization’s Share the Wealth Judicial (JTB-STW) Clerkship Program is a special opportunity to be considered for six different federal clerkships in one interview.

Under JTB-STW’s Judicial Clerkship Program, diverse federal judges, from all across the country, seek highly-qualified law students for one-year and two-year clerkships commencing in 2017. Qualifying third-year law students (students are required to complete two years of law school prior to applying) and recent graduates are strongly encouraged to apply for this opportunity. Specifically, JTB-STW encourages diverse law students, including minority, underrepresented and economically disadvantaged law students, to apply for federal judicial clerkships in a setting that allows them to express their interest in a federal clerkship, to six federal judges, simultaneously. Because JTB-STW is a referral program run by judges, many judges contact JTB-STW to seek assistance in identifying competitive candidates from diverse backgrounds for consideration.

All qualifying students, who submit their application by the deadline, will be screened and eventually notified if they are selected to be one of the fourteen applicants called to interview with all six judges. At the conclusion of the process, students who are not extended an offer by one of the six participating judges may have their application packages shared with additional judges who have requested information on applicants through JTB.

Judge Ivan Davis (E.D. Va.), along with five of his colleagues, will be conducting a regional round of interviews in connection with Just The Beginning – A Pipeline Organization’s Share the Wealth Judicial Law Clerk Program this Fall in Alexandria, Virginia on Saturday, September 24, 2016. Fourteen students will be selected to interview; you may not attend unless you are specifically invited to do so. The selected students will be notified of the exact location of the interview and their time slot.

The following six federal magistrate judges will be participating in the September 2016 law clerk interview session:
• Judge Ivan Davis (E.D. Va.)
• Judge Roderick Young (E.D. Va.)
• Judge Deborah Robinson (D.C.)
• Judge Nancy Joseph (E.D. Wi.)
• Judge Karen Wells Roby (E.D.La.)
• Judge Julie Sneed (M.D. Fl.)
Please note that the clerkships are for one-year terms starting in 2017. You must submit your application via OSCAR only.

The application process is currently open! Applications are due by August 26, 2016 (5:00pm ET).
