Akron Law Alumni Association seeks Student Director – Application Deadline: August 17, 2016
Message from Lia Evans, Director of Alumni and Development
The Akron Law Alumni Association (“LAA”) Board of Directors has a dedicated position on its Board for a student director. This unique and valuable opportunity provides the student director a chance to become involved in alumni leadership and activities with the law school. The student director represents Akron Law students to the LAA Board and works with the Board to identify ways in which students and alumni may work and communicate together for the benefit of both groups.
The student director serves in an ex-officio capacity and is expected to attend all Board meetings which are held at the School of Law on a bi-monthly basis throughout the academic year (i.e., August, October, December, February, and April). The Board meetings begin at 4:30 p.m. and generally last for one and a half hours.
The student director is also expected to assist with the class gift campaign.
Applications for the 2016-17 student director to the LAA Board of Directors will be accepted from upper division law students who are in good standing. Applications should include:
(1) why he or she wants to serve on the LAA Board;
(2) why the student believes that he or she should be selected for the position;
(3) a copy of the student’s resume; and
(4) a proposed plan for the year ahead.
The LAA Board’s executive committee will review the application materials and a select students who will be invited to interview at the August 24, 2015 LAA Board meeting. Students interested in being considered for this position should e-mail their application materials to Michele Novachek at manovac@uakron.edu.

Summit County Prosecutor’s Office, Child Protection Unit, Seeks Intern ASAP!
Seeking a law student with their intern-certificate (3L/4L) to assist in pre-trial preparation and investigation as well as some degree of court appearances, with supervision. Office anticipates training an intern just as if they were newly assigned counsel and preparing them to cover some portion of our new filing/emergency probable cause hearings. This would equip a student with some very practical trial preparation skills and courtroom experience.
Need is rather urgent, but the hours are quite flexible. This is not a paid position, however it would offer immediate participation and good team support and mentoring from our Attorneys. Looking to find someone who could commit to at least 3-5 hours per week.
*Would qualify for the fall Public Interest Stipend as well as pro bono hours*
If interested, please send your resume and email stating your interest to Chris Mastran: Mastran@prosecutor.summitoh.net.
