AkronLawJobs No. 7448 Overview: Seeking an intern to work for the ABA’s Lawyer Referral and Information Service (LRIS) Program which connects the public with pre-screened attorneys in the legal specialty needed. Will work ten hours per week. The Internship is for the Summer 2016 semester and the incumbent can be reappointed for subsequent semesters. This is a PAID position.
Duties: Answers the phone and determines the nature of the client’s problem and makes the appropriate referral; Maintains files of referral updates; Administration of end of month reports; Confirms liability insurance coverage for all LRIS members; and researches online court dockets for unreported referred cases. The Intern will assist the LRIS Director by speaking directly with clients, by conducting intake interviews and by recommending attorneys with the appropriate legal experience.
Qualifications: 2L, 3L. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Ability to work with clients of all demeanors; Knowledge of Microsoft Office and general database usage is required.

Assist attorneys who counsel and represent Airmen, their family members and retirees in personal legal matters in areas such as family law, estate planning, landlord-tenant law, tax, bankruptcy, immigration and naturalization law, and military administrative law.
Qualifications: US citizen, birth or naturalized. Attending an ABA accredited law school. Able to obtain law school credit or law school permission for your externship. Work part-time (16+ hours) or full-time (40) hours for 16 weeks.
