Show your Akron Law pride by participating in Zippy’s MAC Challenge! Round 1 (March 6 and 7): School of Law vs. College of Engineering

Zippy’s MAC Challenge is a six-day fundraising challenge that coincides with the MAC basketball tournament. The entire UA community (UA faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends) are invited to participate. Essentially, 12 UA colleges/areas are competing in a bracket challenge for the most donor support. Participants vote for their favorite UA “team” by making a gift. Every gift earns a point and advances the “team” in the bracket.

  • Slam dunk               Gifts $100 and higher = 4 points
  • Three-pointer         Gifts $50 – $99 = 3 points
  • Jumper                     Gifts $25 – $49 = 2 point
  • Free throw               Gifts under $25 = 1 point

In the first round (March 6 and 7), the School of Law is competing against the College of Engineering. Please visit www.uakron.edu/ZippysMacChallenge for the full bracket and additional information about the challenge.

We hope you will consider showing your school spirit and scoring some points for Akron Law by making a gift to advance the School of Law to the next round! The winner of this round will advance to round two (March 8-9).

There are three ways to give (be sure to select the School of Law):

All gifts designated to the School of Law will support scholarships for Akron Law students!

Let’s show some school spirit and beat the College of Engineering!

2017 Loyola Patent Law Interview Program – registration closes Friday!

To: All Law Students Returning For Fall Semester 2017
Loyola University Chicago School of law is hosting the 2017 Patent Law Interview Program on Thursday and Friday, August 3-4 in Chicago, Illinois. This is a nationwide interview program that targets patent law employers, rising 2L and 3L students, and students in Intellectual Property LLM programs.
Last year roughly 150 employers, 190 law schools, and 1,200 law students from across the country participated in the program. The program is entirely pre-selected, which means that students submit resumes and transcripts to bid on interviews with the employers they are interested in, and employers then review the materials of the students who bid on them and select the students they wish to interview at the program. Last year, approximately half of the participating students were selected for interviews.
Students with undergraduate or graduate degrees in engineering or a technical science should consider registering for the program. You do not need to be patent bar eligible to register, although the vast majority of employers participating in the program are seeking patent bar eligible students.
For more information on the program, please refer to the Loyola Patent Program website at: http://www.luc.edu/law/career/patent_students.html.
Online student registration for this year’s Patent Law Interview Program began on Monday, February 6 and close on Friday, March 10. Online registration is now open at https://patentlawregistration.luc.edu/lawstudents/. At this stage of registration, you will only need to enter some basic information (you will upload your resume and bid on interviews later in the semester). Please note that our school is listed alphabetically as The University of Akron on the registration form’s drop down menu of law schools.
The School of Law will be paying the $35 registration fee for our students, so you will not be charged anything when you register online. Once you have registered, the program staff will communicate with you directly via email to the address that you entered when registering for the program. Please direct any questions about the program to Maureen Davis, mdavis1@uakron.edu, Patent Program Liaison.
