Description: Will receive hands-on experience working with the Nestle Legal team in areas such as intellectual property, litigation, commercial contracts, employment, environmental, advertising, and general legal matters. In-house lawyers will provide mentoring to participants with developmental feedback to gain a better understanding of the unique role of an in-house law department at the world’s largest food company. As a legal intern at Nestle USA, you will gain exposure to senior legal leadership and develop your network.
Examples of Potential Projects: Reviewing and drafting commercial contracts; Assisting with the development of policies, training materials, checklists and guidelines in a variety of practice areas including employment and environmental law; Preparing cease and desist letters for commercial and intellectual property disputes; Investigating and managing potential trademark infringement matters; Licensing; and Digital and Social Media matters.
Qualifications: 2L. 3 or more months or prior law firm experience or prior law firm internship is preferred. 3.0 or above cumulative GPA. Must be willing to work for ten consecutive weeks in the summer of 2017 in Solon, OH; Must have strong communication, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills; Must be a self-starter who is results-oriented and exhibits responsibility, creativity, and intellectual curiosity; and Must be involved in extracurricular activities, demonstrating initiative and leadership.

Qualifications: 1L, 2L, 3L, or recent graduate. The Health Law and Policy Clinic (HLPC) is located at Community Legal Aid in downtown Akron. The clinic works with clients who are referred to Legal Aid’s medical-legal partnership — the Health, Education, Advocacy and Law (HEAL) Project — from its medical partners at University of Akron Nursing Center for Community Health, Akron Children’s Hospital, and Summa Women’s Health Center.
Class content focuses attention on legal barriers to health, health disparities, and population health. The clinic provides opportunities for interdisciplinary learning through collaboration with its medical providers, Summit County Public Health, and statewide advocacy networks.
Clinic students will gain skills in the following areas: interviewing clients; identifying legal issues presented by client’s description of their problems; researching law and applying facts to law; investigating legal problem and potential solutions; connecting legal problems to patient health; researching health policy topics related to current advocacy issues, i.e., access to affordable medical care, racial and economic health disparities, local governance through prism of health; and presenting results of legal and policy research internally and externally.

AkronLawJobs No. 7815 Overview: This position is Law Clerk to U.S. Bankruptcy Judge C. Kathryn Preston. This is a one year and one-day position, starting around September 30, 2017, which may be extended to a two-year term.
Duties: Provides legal research and writing assistance to the Judge, prepares bench memos, drafts orders and opinions, communicates with counsel regarding case management and procedural requirements, conducts pretrial conferences, assists the Judge during courtroom proceedings, and participates in committee work of the Court. A law clerk performs other duties as assigned by the Judge.
Qualifications: JD (or be certified as having completed all law school studies and requirements and merely awaiting conferment of degree) from a law school of recognized standing, and have ONE OR MORE of the following attributes: Top 50% of your law school class; Experience on the editorial board of a law review or law journal of such a school; Experience in the moot court competition of such a school; Graduation from such a school with an LLM degree, or proficiency in legal studies, work or volunteer activities that, in the opinion of the Judge, is the equivalent of the above. It is preferred that applicants have taken a bankruptcy class in law school, or have experience in the bankruptcy field or comparable practice areas. Must be highly skilled in legal research and writing and must be able to use Westlaw or Lexis, WordPerfect of Word, PowerPoint or comparable products. Must be able to quickly process and resolve complex issues. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills, maturity, judgment, discretion and strong work ethic are required. MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN. Will be subject to a background check as a condition of employment. Employment is provisional until the background check is completed.
