Join the Black Law Students Association as we Celebrate Diversity Week at the University of Akron!
BLSA will be hosting “Race Matters”, a frank discussion on diversity and inclusion led by Ms. Erica Merritt, Associate Director of Leadership & Inclusion Initiatives at the Cleveland YWCA.
The event will be held on Tuesday, September 18th from 12:30pm – 1:30pm in room L-165.

The law school’s annual community service event – Akron Law Cares- will take place on Saturday, September 22, 2012. Students, faculty, administration and alumni work together during this community service project to assist low-income residents living in Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority apartments. The Expungement Clinic assists low income residents of the City of Akron seal their criminal records. Volunteer law students assist clients throughout the entire process. Intern certified law students have the opportunity to represent clients in various courts throughout Summit County.
Students interested in volunteering with the Expungement Clinic should email their resume to Program Director, Attorney Aviva L. Wilcher, at Aviva_Wilcher@SBCGlobal.Net .
Akron Trial Team will be holding an INFORMAL MEETING on TUESDAY, AUGUST 28, from 5:30-6:30 pm in W-209. We will be discussing the upcoming try-outs and trial team in general. Come meet the coaches and get help with your try-out material!

Akron Trial Team will be holding TRYOUTS on SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 1, STARTING AT 9:00 a.m. and continuing through the day. It’s never been a better time for incoming competitors! Please sign up for a 10 minute slot on the signup sheet located in the Legal Clinic. All people trying out must give a short opening statement or a closing argument no longer than 5 minutes in length. The case that you will be arguing is a civil case, and the packet is also located in the Legal Clinic. You DO NOT WANT TO MISS this amazing opportunity to learn valuable skills, work with top trial attorneys, and advance your career.
