TRIAL TEAM TRYOUTS: Saturday, September 1, 2012 9:00 am- 4:00 pm

Akron Trial Team will be holding TRYOUTS on SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 1, STARTING AT 9:00 a.m. and continuing through the day.  It’s never been a better time for incoming competitors!  Please sign up for a 10 minute slot on the signup sheet located in the Legal Clinic.  All people trying out must give a short opening statement or a closing argument no longer than 5 minutes in length.  The case that you will be arguing is a civil case, and the packet is also located in the Legal Clinic.  You DO NOT WANT TO MISS this amazing opportunity to learn valuable skills, work with top trial attorneys, and advance your career.

Law School Democrats – Meeting on Monday, 8/20, 7 pm, W-210

The Law School School Democrats are having their first meeting on Monday, August 20 at 7pm at the law school, W-210. They will be talking about their plan for this upcoming election and voting on this year’s officers. Anyone interested in becoming either an officer or member is welcome to attend. The NEO Student Venture Fund at The University of Akron is seeking qualified, enthusiastic graduate students for the upcoming school year. If you have experience starting a business or community project, or working in a nonprofit organization, we’d love to talk to you. ALL BACKGROUNDS ARE WELCOME!

We are a student-run, nonprofit, evergreen fund providing preseed validation to high potential start-ups in NE Ohio.

We support interaction between the university, local business communities, and entrepreneurs for the purpose of education and economic development in the region.

Clinical Externships Still Available

There are still for-credit externships available through the Clinical Seminar courses for the Fall Semester with Federal, Common Pleas, Municipal, Domestic Relations and Probate Court judges.  There are also positions open with various Prosecutor’s offices, Legal Aid, the Public Defender as well as with some nonprofits.  Those students interested in placement should complete the application and forward it to Professor Spring at gspring@uakron.edu by August 6, 2012.   A student must work 90 hours to obtain 2 hours of credit and 120 hours for 3 credit hours.
