Law Students for Reproductive Justice (LSRJ) is now accepting applications from law students interested in serving on the organization’s national board of directors during the 2011-2012 term. Student Directors shape LSRJ’s long-term organizational direction and serve as national leaders in the reproductive justice movement. Directors represent LSRJ at national and regional events; attend an annual in-person orientation, and participate in board and committee meetings, which convene in alternating months and are held via conference call. They also review income and expenses, engage in private fundraising, and help develop strategies and guidelines for organizational operations.

Other opportunities include: establishing personnel policies and procedures, working with national staff to support programming, selecting and orienting new board members, and serving as liaisons to the alumni and ally communities. The time commitment (excluding events) ranges from 5 to 10 hours per month.

LSRJ’s national board maintains a student majority. Student Directors serve an initial one-year term, followed by a possible one-year renewal term. Rising 2Ls are encouraged to apply. Students who serve during their 3L year and subsequently take a fellowship relating to reproductive rights will be eligible for a second term. The Board strives for diversity along multiple axes of identity.
