BLSA Banquet

BLSA would like to cordially invite you all to join us as we celebrate the end of another phenomenal year! The annual banquet is BLSA’s chance to celebrate and acknowledge the accomplishments of its chapter and the local Attorneys who strive to make equality a reality in our legal community. We will be holding our annual BLSA Banquet on April 11, 2015, at 6:30PM in the Grand Ballroom of Quaker Inn.

This year’s theme is “A Call for Unity,” inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Student tickets are available for only $35 and full tables can be purchased for only $400. It is a great way to interact with local Judges, Attorneys, and other professionals from the Akron/canton area.

Akron Law and Leadership Students win LLI Mock Trial Competition

Akron LLI students traveled to Columbus on March 21, 2015 to compete in the annual statewide LLI mock trial competition. Akron students, Bree Chambers, Deborah Eshun, Khamiyia Fields, Jaden Hescht, Sean Jefferys, Marissa Mariner, Marnetta Singleton and Marion Wilson took home the first place trophy. Akron also won two best attorney awards, Deborah Eshun and Sean Jefferys, and a best witness award, Bree Chambers. The team is coached by attorneys William Dowling, Mark Hilkert and Orville Reed. Trial Team Tryouts!! Saturday, April 11th

Tryouts for Akron’s Nationally Recognized Trial Team will be held Saturday April 11th at the law school, in the West Hall mock trial rooms. Our program is looking for the next class of competitors to continue the winning tradition!!!

Tryouts will begin Saturday morning at around 9 a.m. Each competitor will do approximately 5 minutes in each room of an open or close (your choice!). Each tryout will will generally last no longer than 10 minutes. The problem will be sent to each competitor two weeks prior to tryouts to prepare. Any trial team member can assist you in preparing an open or close.
