Our next free Certificate of Qualification for Employment (CQE) clinic is Saturday, October 28, 2017!  We’re very excited to be providing opportunities for ex-offenders in Summit County to take a step toward gaining employment and independence!

We are looking for students to volunteer from 9:15am-1:00pm on Saturday, October 28, 2017.  The clinic will be held at the Akron-Summit County Public Library [60 S. High St., Akron, OH 44308]. The time you volunteer can be applied toward your graduation requirement as pro bono limited means hours.

There will be a mandatory volunteer training on Friday, October 28, 2017 from 4:30-6:00pm for first timers. Location of the training will be announced the week of the clinic. The time you are at training will count towards your pro bono limited means hours as well. For those who have completed the training once before, you are more than welcome to attend the training for a refresher. However, you may not count the training towards your pro bono limited means hours again.

The International Law Society’s general body meeting is this Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 12:15PM in Room 161. We will be collecting dues, discuss T-shirts, fundraising and events going forward. If you would like to remain on the portal and membership roster, but cannot attend please send an email to Norlande Dathis (nd62@zips.uakron.edu), so that you can receive the relevant information.

The Spring 2018 schedule is posted at: http://uakron.edu/law/curriculum/areas/schedules.dot .  The schedule will be viewable in your MyAkron on Monday, October 23, 2017.  Registration will begin on Monday, October 30th at 6:00 p.m.

The registration materials and course information will be posted within a week on the Akron Law Advising Brightspace page.  Watch the blog for information.

Come and learn what Voting rights you currently have and Don’t have, and which ones are currently being challenged, at Local, State, and Federal Levels.  We’ll have a panel of experts on Election Law, both Locally and Federally. Learn how you can get involved, regardless of which way you land on the fight. Food will be provided for this important and timely community event, so bring a friend!

In honor of National Coming Out Day on  Oct. 11, show your true self. Bring your friends and participate in the Wacky Picture Fundraiser. We have plenty of props to use. Each photo costs $2. You can either have the picture taken and emailed to you or you have the option to ask for a print which will take about a week to receive. If you pay for a photo or give a much appreciated donation your name will be place in a drawing for 1 of 2 sets of 400 Lexis Points. All of the money will be donated to a local LGBTQ nonprofit.
