Our next free Certificate of Qualification for Employment (CQE) clinic is Saturday, April 22, 2017!  We’re very excited to be providing opportunities for ex-offenders in Summit County to take a step toward gaining employment and independence!

We are looking for students to volunteer from 8:30am-12:45pm on Saturday, April 22, 2017.  The clinic will be held at Woodland Methodist Church [444 N Hawkins Ave., Akron, OH 44313]. The time you volunteer can be applied toward your graduation requirement as pro bono limited means hours.

There will be a mandatory volunteer training on Friday, April 21, 2017 from 4:30-6:00pm for first timers. Location of the training will be announced the week of the clinic. The time you are at training will count towards your pro bono limited means hours as well. For those who have completed the training once before, you are more than welcome to attend the training for a refresher. However, you may not count the training towards your pro bono limited means hours again.

The Gay Straight Law Alliance (GLSA) will be holding their final meeting of the semester on April 18th at 5:15 p.m. in L160.  Elections for the Executive Board will take place along with setting the organization’s goals for the upcoming year.  Both nominations and elections will be held during this meeting and you can nominate yourself, so if you are interested in becoming an Executive Officer, make sure that you are in attendance.  Light snacks will be provided.

Wills Trusts & Estates for Fall 2017 has reached its enrollment capacity for both the day and evening section.  If you are interested in taking this class there are still plenty of openings in the Summer Session which meets MWF 6:30 – 9:30 PM May 30 – June 30th.  If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact Assistant Director Franklin at misty@uakron.edu or Assistant Dean Fuller at bfuller@uakron.edu.

Celebrate Holi with the Indian Student Association!

The Indian Student Association will be hosting a Holi celebration in Coleman Commons (outside the Student Union near the Soccer Field) this Saturday! Price to attend is only $3 and includes snacks, colored powder to play with, games, and music. Holi is an exciting celebration to welcome spring and uses colored paint powder (which is all-natural and washable) thrown into to air and all over each other, so attendees should be prepared to get wet and covered in color!  Event schedule is as follows:

•      12:00PM – 1:00PM     Indian Snacks and Refreshments
•      1:00PM – 2:30PM       Holi Celebration with colored paint powder
•      2:30PM – 4:00 PM      Games & Activities
