Unpaid Balances

Students whose accounts show a balance due after the due date for the given semester will be assessed a $50 late fee.  In addition, a hold for non-payment will be placed on the account which will prohibit future registration and receiving transcripts.  Students are encouraged to check their account balances each semester.  This information can be accessed through the following link:

New Externship Opportunity

The Reentry Clinic was recently named one of the top 15 innovative clinics in the country. The clinic has been awarded funding to share its model with other sites across the state. The Reentry Clinic seeks a student interested in doing a credit externship for the Spring 2015 semester. The student who chooses to do the externship will be involved in the following: 1) Traveling to Youngstown, Cleveland, Columbus and Toledo to train and to supervise reentry clinics; 2) Preparing a report to the Ohio legislature on the success of the remedies used in the clinic; and 3) Educating employers on the benefits of hiring ex-offenders. If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact Professor Joann Sahl, jsahl1@uakron.edu.

Reminder – Special Exam Accommodations Requests Due

This is a reminder to please turn in your Special Exam Accommodations Request if you intend to use Accommodations for your Fall 2014 exams.  I have extended the deadline to turn in these forms until Friday, November 14, 2014.  The form to complete this request is located at: http://www.uakron.edu/dotAsset/ca2c7613-836b-4bf1-875a-f273d3671124.pdf.

If you are in need of a temporary accommodation (that has not been requested in past semesters):

You will need to provide the Dean’s Office with a medical excuse from your attending physician with your response/request for a temporary, one-time accommodation.

If you have a permanent or long-term accommodation:

You must be registered with the University’s Office of Accessibility and must re-register every semester you are in attendance at The University of Akron.  Contact information for that office may be found at :http://www.uakron.edu/access/index.php.

Urgent – Complete Spring Registration to Avoid Possible Class Cancellations

The University administration is closely scrutinizing all classes and may require us to cancel those with law enrollments (generally, fewer than 10 students).  In order to avoid unnecessary cancellations and to assure that you are able to take the classes you need, we urge you to complete registration by the end of Thanksgiving weekend.  If you have any questions about what courses you should take, please contact Associate Dean Jordan or Student Services Director Banks.
