Extended Bar Prep Study Group

This Saturday:

Saturday’s Extended Bar Prep Study Group will meet at 10:30 in L-325.  The essay for Saturday is from February 2009, Question 7 – a criminal law question.

Afternoon session?

There has been some interest in an afternoon session.  If you’re interested in an afternooon session, please let me know here.  I’ve arbitrarily picked 2:00 PM (since that has worked best in the past).  If you’re interested in a particular day, please pick that day – even if the time isn’t  the best.  If there’s enough interest I’ll contact those interested in that day to choose the time that works best for everyone.

Extended Bar Prep Study Groups – different time?

The extended (formerly early start) bar pep study groups currently meet on Wednesday evening and Saturday morning.  We write bar essays (or  work on other bar prep skills that interest you).  These times were selected based on a vote that was taken earlier this year.

Since then I’ve had a handful of inquiries about a different time (weekday afternoon, or a different evening).   If you’re intersted in getting a head start on the bar exam, but Wednesday and Saturday don’t work for you – let me know.  If there’s enough interest, we’ll set up a third group.

Extended Bar Prep Study Group

This week we’ll be doing corporations essays – if you couldn’t manage to fit corporations into your schedule, or need a refresher, make your life easier during bar prep by joining us!

Wednesday 6:30 – 8:30 – L-325

Ohio Bar Exam – July 2014 Question 9 – A run-of-the-mill formation question.  Tedious, but not terribly taxing.  (A good one for makint up the rules)

Saturday 10:30 – 12:30

Ohio Bar Exam – February 2006 Question 11 – Duty of care and duty of loyalty (with a smidgen of derivative suits)

All welcome!  Questions?

Extended Bar Prep Study Group

Saturday 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM. in L-352.

All welcome!  If you haven’t had BBA, here’s a chance to dive in and get your feet wet before the tightly packed bar prep period.  I even have a couple of coggles to help you sort it out!  (In addition to the pile-o-books i bring every week.)

We’re writing the answer to the question the examinees dubbed “corpagency.”  Like many (most) agency questions, it’s a sleeper and many people do not recognized it is an agency question until they’ve already committed to another subject and written half of it.

The question is February 2017, Question 3.

Extended Bar Prep Study Groups – Wed & Sat

The Extended Bar Prep Study Groups (formerly Early Start) will meet on Wednesday evenings 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM and Saturday morning 10:30 AM – 12:30 AM in L-325.

The formal bar prep study period is from graduation through the bar exam – roughly 9 weeks.  In those 9 weeks you need to (re)master 15-16 subjects, as well as learning how to write in a way that exploits the 2-3 minutes the grader spends reading your essay.

Many people find this is just not enough time (especially for the February bar exam – which includes a variety of holidays and time traditionally spent with families).   These study groups let you extend your bar prep study period by starting a semester or two ahead of graduation.

The study groups are open to anyone who wants to join – no advance preparation required.  I’ll bring outlines from the ASP resource room, and we’ll muddle through together – whether you’ve covered the material before or not.  It’s a relatively painless way to get started writing essays – the most important thing you can do to prepare for the bar exam.

This week we’re writing a wills essay (Ohio bar exam essay from February 2010, question 5).
