Some of the projects that the extern can expect to be engaged in include: 1) Assisting Compliance Officer in responding to guidance requests from employees; 2) Assist Compliance Officer and Privacy Officer with investigation of suspected violations, including fact-finding, document reviews, and interviews; 3) Conduct legal research and prepare memorandum on compliance-related issues; 4) Prepare and deliver short presentations to the department regarding practical application of policies, enforcement trends, or recent significant events; 5) Participate in assessing the organization’s compliance risks through both formal and informal means, such as auditing and monitoring; and 6) Accompany Compliance Officer in hospital rounding and meetings with hospital leaders.

Location: UH Management Services Center at 3605 Warrensville Center Road in Shaker Heights, and travel by car with a Compliance Officer to other UH locations in northeast Ohio.

Qualifications: 2Ls. This externship is for students who have a demonstrated interest in health law. Students must have completed at least one Health Law class prior to beginning the Externship or, in the alternative, have a degree or work experience in a health field.

Youngstown, OH – Intern for the Comeback Capital Fund – Youngstown Business Incubator

AkronLawJobs No. 9687 Overview: Hiring an intern interested in venture capital. Using funds obtained through a grant from the Burton D. Morgan Foundation, YBI is supporting the Comeback Capital Fund, a small venture capital fund designed to bring together coastal and Midwestern investors to support the growth of Midwestern startups.

Duties: The intern would support Scott Shane, the Managing Director of the Fund, on several activities. First, the Fund will host an annual conference to bring together investors and entrepreneurs. The 2019 conference will occur on March 28, 2019. The intern will work on organizing the events and media activity for the conference. Second, the Fund needs support screening deals that come in through the website to identify those worth the partners’ attention. The intern will do this work as well. Third, the Fund needs the assistance with deal flow memos to the partners, as well as to its LPs who may be interested in making sidecar investments. Drafting these memos is the final major task of the intern.

Qualifications: 2L, 3L. Students with a technical background (particularly computer science) are strongly preferred. Knowledge of venture finance is not essential. Strong organization skills are essential. This position will be largely remote. Strong preference is for someone located in Northeast Ohio.
Salary: Pay will be hourly at $15/hour.

Hours: While the workload will be higher around the time of the conference, the average workload will be 10 hours per week.
